Helping Papa!

Pool time and a sight never before seen

I had to go to a series of meetings this week out of town, so Nanny and Angelina joined me while Papa was off in DC. Lucky for Angelina, this meant lots of pool time

And even luckier for Angelina, we were less than an hour from San Antonio, so when Fredo returned on Thursday afternoon, he drove up to pick them up, getting in a little pool time himself.

As for Angelina, she'd happily turn into a raisin sitting in the water all day if I let her.

But here's what that will do:

This is the child who NEVER falls asleep. Nanny claims she's never seen Angelina with her eyes clothes or mouth shut, but now there's proof it does happen on rare occasions. We had gone to dinner - early mind you - and Angelina was not herself. Instead of trying to run around like a banshee, she just sat on my lap and talked. Before I knew it, she laid her head down on the table and well, fell asleep.

HEAD SCARVES

Angelina has this thing for covering her head - not when she's walking out in the sun and Mommy would like her to wear a hat, of course. No, she picks assorted scarves/blankets/towels/shirts for head coverings at the oddest times.

A visit from Nanny

pictures to come

Nanny (my mom) is here now taking care of Angelina. Our daycare provider was on vacation and with Frederic traveling so much lately, I asked her to stay an extra week. Angelina is having a blast. I am not so sure about Nanny though. That said, at 75 she has more energy to chase around Angelina than I do.

All I hear from Angelina is "nanny! Look at me!" "Nanny! Nanny! Nanny!"

I am glad she's having so much fun. It's a great visit for Angelina. Though she's spent time with Nanny before, she was younger and doesn't remember much. I am very sure she will remember Nanny very well after this visit. She certainly remembers all her Swiss relatives after our June visit.

Now, if I could just find some time to take pictures....

Allegrini #2

These pictures were taken a few weeks ago, at 18 weeks. I'm just about 21 weeks now.
The little one stopped moving just long enough to snap a picture. He/she was VERY active.

And no, we don't know the gender. We're not going to find out. Frederic says it's like knowing what your Christmas present is 6 months in advance. You're still excited for it, but it doesn't have the same element of surprise. We didn't find out with Angelina, so I am pretty sure we can stand the suspense.

Fortunately, all is going well with this pregnancy, despite a shaky start. Looks like we'll have a wonderful Christmas Present!

A Day in Bern

When we were in CH in June, Frederic had to spend one day working in Bern, so we came along. It was to be a hot day, and I remembered the wonderful fountains in the square and the excellent pizza place (and my favourite bookstore).

At the pizza place, she wasn't too thrilled with her glass of milk.....

But the fountains were another story. I actually DID come prepared with a bathing suit, but this was round two and she had already taken it off. Alas, she's a European kid and fit right in. Most of the kids were in some state of nakedness.

Crazy Child

It's been awhile and I have a lot to catch up on. We had an 18 week ultrasound a couple of weeks ago (I'm now almost 21 weeks) and all looks good! However, if the movement in utero is any indication, Angelina will get a run for her money. The tech said "I've never seen a baby so active!"

While that's a little scary, I guess it's good if this new baby is a match for Angelina, since I can't imagine how they'd manage together if one was incredibly calm and introverted....we're in for a wild ride.
